Would still take a CTR over all of these examples though, the Supra is a close tie.įast is such a subjective term though. If you add something as simple as two sticky tires in the rear, youd probably make a Camaro or Firebird a 12 second car, im fairly confident with that.Īll of these cars would get wacked by a 3.0L GR Supra today though. Heck, even a base corvette will go low 13s.Ī terminator Cobra, despite its weight moved out fairly well too. Fairly light, LS7 that made good power, RWD, 12 second quarter mile times. If we're going to use older cars as a reference, a C5 Z06 is a great example of what was fairly quick for those times. The reason they would beat up any most of the "fast" Hondas back in the day was because they could get out of the hole quicker (ask me how I know). That V8 is intimidating but its the same deal as any other American car save for the Corvette. I also hate to say it, older F bodies werent that fast without some work either. A mid to high 13 second car, just isnt fast no matter which way you try and spin it. But you know what doesnt change? A "decent" quarter mile time. I agree with you that a lot has changed in the past decade. I wouldnt take any of these other faster cars over it. What this car lacks with being "Fast", it makes up for with so many other things, including its ability to haul 4 people around, get great gas mileage, great looking interior especially the seats (compared to Ford and Chevy interiors I think the CTR is leaps and bounds ahead), and more. I wouldnt consider this a jab at the R though, as I consider the car to be quite capable of outperforming the majority of these "Faster" cars on a track/autocross. If you consider cars you can get used in good condition for what the R is going for these days, that list grows considerably. I say "Fast" like this because the average highschooler considers fast to be whatever gets you to the next stoplight fastest, or whatever can put you back in your seat at a 40 roll which the CTR can do neither that well.Ī FWD 306hp car that weighs 3100lbs to me isnt really fast by any means (thanks physics), but the car has some pep in its step for sure.Ĭars that I would consider a step quicker out of the box probably would be Scat Packs, Golf R, Mustang GT (especially the Autos), GR Supra, etc. I dont think the car is "fast", but I do think its a riot around a track and capable of punching above its weight class with the right driver.

If you like that kind of thing, you'll love this. I won't tell you any more, because it will spoil the story, but expect a serial killer, a lot of violence and blood-drinking. Then some new neighbours move in next door and he becomes friends with Eli, a beautiful but strange girl. He is being bullied at school and wants revenge on the bullies. Oskar is a young boy with a lot of problems. It's a modern vampire film and also a kind of love story, but it's really unsentimental and a bit scary in places. There are two versions, the first is Swedish and the second American – I prefer the original, Swedish version. Let the Right One In is my favourite film. Laurence Fishburne is terrific as Morpheus, and Keanu Reeves is excellent, but the best thing about the film is the special effects. Morpheus explains to Neo that what he thinks of as real is actually fiction and the world is run by evil machines who have imprisoned and tricked the human race. One day he is contacted by a woman who introduces him to a very strange man: Morpheus. It's about this ordinary man, Neo, played by Keanu Reeves, who works with computers during the day and is a hacker at night. Even though it was made back in 1999, it still feels really modern. Although it was published 200 years ago, it's still a great read and really funny in parts. She also realises he has an enormous house and that maybe helps her fall in love with him too! After I saw the film I read the book by Jane Austen and I really recommend that too. Elizabeth thinks Mr Darcy is stuck up and snobbish at the beginning of the film, but at the end she realises she has been completely wrong and he isn't like that at all. It's all about how we tend to jump to conclusions about people and we're often completely wrong. The story is really clever and interesting, besides being romantic. It's not a very recent film, but I love Pride and Prejudice – the version with Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr Darcy. Bond is also a bit different – although he does amazing things, he seems older and that makes him more human and the story more realistic. It's really well filmed, especially in the scenes which are shot in Shanghai and Scotland, and it's really exciting, of course. The story is more important, although there is still a lot of action. It's a bit different to other Bond films. They're both great, and so is Judi Dench as M, Bond's boss. It stars Daniel Craig again and Javier Bardem is this really evil baddie. I think my favourite film is Skyfall, the last James Bond movie. Rachel McAdams is really good too, as Allie. Noah is played by Ryan Gosling, who's my favourite actor, and he stops the film being too soppy – but you still cry a lot at the end. You can probably guess the rest, but it's a bit complicated because she is engaged to another man. He does it up and she sees a newspaper article about it and goes to find him again. Then after quite a long time, Noah buys an old house which he promised to restore for Allie. She goes away to college and he writes to her every day, but she doesn't get the letters. Allie's parents don't approve of Noah because he's poor and they get separated, then a lot of time passes before they can get together again. The story is about a poor boy, called Noah, who meets a rich girl, called Allie, and they fall in love over one summer.
But it didn’t feel as bad as knowing that the Chanel foundation was 40,95€ for 30 ml and the touche eclat 2.5 ml and 34€. I just bought the chanel bronze universel creme bronzer and the chanel vitalumiere aqua which are my first chanel products. I asked the YSL Counter woman to try it out, we did. I was looking at the touche eclat, always wondering if it really was that good. I had to go buy a perfume for my friend’s birthday and got a chubby stick by Clinique. But then some kind of show (“Cinderella Project”) was on tv, I watched it, one was swearing by YSL touche eclat. I always wanted to, but then I was like: What the ?! It’s 2,5 ml (0.1 oz) and you pay like 34€? What’s wrong with you? I’ve been using Mac’s studio finish and pro longwear concealer and never had a hard time with them. To be honest: I had a hard time buying it. I’m really sorry to hear that for many people it actually doesn’t work. Just wish that it would last ALL day at work without touch ups, but by using the above techniques, I don’t have to touch up as often. Expensive products, but I think the make-up looks nice. To set everything (I have REALLY oily skin) I use “All Nighter” by Urban Decay (this stuff rocks and does not make you break out at all!). I also use it as a highlighter (over light weight foundation such as smashbox high def helath FX foundation, BTW I love this product too) on the outsides of my nose to the outside area of my mouth as a highligher and then the outside of the lips, above the lip (cupids bow?) and below the lip (it knocks off about 5 years off your face). HOWEVER, if you moisturize first, then put just a little of “Stay Don’t Stray” by benefit under your eyes & then YSL Touche Eclat then it looks awesome and stays for some time. □ It’s true if you use it alone it just doesn’t have much staying power or have enough coverage for undereyes. I have dark circles because I have difficulty sleeping at night. Hi! I too heard great things about this product and went ahead and bought it. Years before the Trojan War began, he took his men on an expedition to Troy. His mother was Zeus human mistress, Alcmene, and Heracles soon grew big and strong. Herakles was conceived during one of her husband’s many adventures. Hera did not care for Zeus son, Herakles, from birth. Two of the most famous tales are based on the text of Homer’s Iliad and reveal how Hypnos overcame and dominated Zeus, the king of the gods, under the direction of the goddess Hera, Zeus wife. There are numerous myths related to the god of sleep. The clan of Hypnos were the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology who controlled dreams and sleep, as well as death and fear. It seems that this family, including the brother, Thanatos, actually possessed the most dangerous and most desired abilities in Greek mythology. But before they could act, their father, had to do the work, put people to bed. The latter was believed to be the door of false dreams. The cave had two doors, one made of rooster horn the other of ivory, so that they could choose which dreams to send. The myth says that Oneiroi lived on the shore of the ocean in the west, in the cave near Hades. Their sons, Oneiroi (which means “dreams” in Greek) were: Morpheus, Ikelos, Phobetor and Phantasos. Their marriage was the direct result of Hypnos blackmailing Hera to do him a very difficult favor regarding the Trojan War, he asked Pasithea who had no other choice, so he offered her to Hypnos.Īccording to some rumors (which exist in mythology) that Hypnos and Pasithea had up to a thousand children, but the most common belief is that they had four children. He was married to the youngest of the Charites: Pasithea (or Pasithee), a deity of hallucination or relaxation, according to interpretation. Ikelos: He was the one who created the true dreams, making them more realistic.Phantasus: He was the one who created false and illusory dreams, and had no animus form.He was thepersonification of nightmare, taking the form of huge and terrifying animals Phobetor: He was the one who created the dreams of fear.Morpheus: The winged god of dreams, capable of taking any human form in dreams.Wife: The deity of hallucinations, Pasithea. One version suggests that the god of sleep lived in the cave under a Greek island, Lemnos, and that through his cave the river of forgetfulness, Lethe, used to flow. He lived in the dark cave, in Hades (underworld), whose entrance was filled with poppies and other hypnotic plants. However, in Hesiod’s version, he had no father. The god Hypnos was the son of the goddess Nyx (meaning “night”) and Erebus (deep darkness, or shadow). Hypnos was also the father of another powerful deity: Morpheus, the deity of dreams. In Hesiod’s portrayal, Hypnos and his brother Thanatos, the god of death, were terrible gods and quite inseparable in their actions.Īlthough the dream is intangible, Hypnos himself could have been both, but in any case he had enormous power over mortals and immortals, including the god of gods, Zeus. In many artistic works inspired by Greek mythology, he was depicted as a gentle youth, usually with wings attached to his temples or shoulders. His attributes included a sleep-inducing opium horn, a poppy stalk, a branch dripping water from the river Lethe (forgetfulness) or an inverted torch. He was depicted as a young man with wings on his shoulders or forehead. The river Lethe (the river of forgetfulness) flowed through the cave. He lived in a cave with his twin brother, Thanatos, in the underworld, where the sun and moon shed no light the earth in front of the cave was filled with poppies and other sleep-inducing plants. He was a primordial deity in Greek mythology, the personification of sleep. Know more: Discover all the Gods of Olympus and their legends. However, our experience shows that this method is impractical. One way to potentially mitigate the risk of manipulation is to contact the person that has certified the document in question to confirm the details in the document and the fact that they have indeed certified it. A certification, in this case, loses its utility value. It is just as prone to manipulation as a scanned copy of any other document. In contrast, a scanned version of a ‘certified copy’ is no longer the very copy that has been sighted and confirmed as a true copy of the original by an authorised person. Therefore, a reporting entity can be reasonably certain that the ‘certified copy’ is the same as the original document without signs of manipulation, and can rely on the information in the certified copy for KYC purposes. The rationale behind obtaining a certified copy of a document is that a person authorised by the Rules has sighted the original document and the copy, and has confirmed that the copy is the same as the original. The provision then goes on to provide a list of persons authorised to certify documents under the Rules. 1) (Cth) (the ‘ AML/CTF Rules’, the ‘ Rules’) to refer to ‘a document that has been certified as a true copy of an original document…’. The term ‘certified copy’ is defined in Part 1.2 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Rules Instrument 2007 (No. I share my thoughts on the topic and what reporting entities need to consider in deciding their own approach in this article below. However, I would be inclined to think that a scanned copy of a certified document is no longer a ‘certified copy’. This is understandable as it is much faster and easier to obtain a scanned copy than waiting for the physical certified document to arrive. There appears to be an increase in the acceptance of scanned copies of certified documents in recent years. Some children are gifted academically but have behavioral, attention, or emotional issues that interfere with their learning potential. It does not measure things like motivation, academic endurance or success. It’s important to recognize that many gifted programs are rigorous and your child will need to be prepared for the intellectual challenge of the program.Īn IQ test only measures someone’s capacity to learn. However, keep in mind that many factors, not just her IQ score, should be considered before you head to the school’s office for the placement meeting. What if my child does qualify for the gifted program? If your child receives the appropriate score from an intellectual assessment, they are considered eligible for a specific educational plan. There are many areas in a child’s life that they may be gifted in. Perhaps the child is simply not gifted in academics, or they are a poor test taker but they are highly skilled in things such as sports, music, arts. Third, just because your child will not be enrolled in the gifted program does not mean they do not have other areas that they excel in that should be promoted. Instead, parents should focus on their child’s strengths! It is important that parents not focus too much on whether their child is good enough for a gifted program. Even if your child never ends up in advanced classes, he can still be successful in life. There are many children who do not make it into the gifted program and still end up in International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced Placement (AP) classes. Second, if your child does not get into the gifted program, it does not mean it will impact their success in their academic life or their life overall. You could take them to the museum, zoo, aquarium, learning camp or have “home adventures” where they learn advanced information outside of school. First, know that as a parent there are still many things that you can do to intellectually stimulate your child and promote good learning opportunities. There are several things to keep in mind. What if my child does not qualify for the gifted program? Sometimes children are very bright but do not earn the score to get into the gifted program. Therefore, parents must make a decision on which factors are important to them before requesting the evaluation. The difference between testing in the school district and a private evaluation is generally the cost, the type of IQ tests used and the timeframe to get results back. If you feel your child is gifted, you can also request testing from your child’s school or an outside professional who does testing to determine if your child is in fact gifted. As a parent, you may notice that your child understands concepts well beyond their years and that they are intellectually creative or stimulated by learning more than the typical child. To put this score into perspective, an average score is 100 (give or take 10 points) and an IQ score of 130 is in the top 2.2% of individuals. However, some schools have different cut-offs. Most schools require an IQ score of 130 for acceptance into the Accelerated Gifted Program (AGP). In some cases, parents will notice one of their children is processing information more rapidly than their other child or children. Many times it’s because a teacher begins to notice that a child is doing exceptionally well in their academic work and they may refer the child to get an intellectual evaluation (IQ test). In my psychology practice parents often ask, “Is my child gifted?” This can be a result of teachers, parents or other individuals in the child’s life noticing that the child is doing things above the child’s age level. Regardless of what gifted means to you, most school districts define a student as gifted based on how the student learns and processes information. For others, a gifted child may be an amazing speller with an extensive vocabulary or a spelling bee champ. For some parents, a gifted child is one who plays the piano in an outstanding way or has a superb singing voice. Having a “gifted” child means different things depending on who you ask.
